DIY van shelving system for tradies

November 28 2014   11 AM

Turning a basic van into a tradie's van. Twice the space, within budget and keep your tools out of sight! It'll also double as a recreational van for those weekend surf/camping trips. This is how it's done:

  1. Buy 2 sets of telescopic locking drawer runners from Dunn and Watson
  2. Get 4 sheets of 17mm plywood and a few lengths of 70x35 from Bunnings
  3. Get creative and map out your design
  4. Build your drawers to size
  5. Fix the drawers and runners to the base of the van
  6. Build a deck over the top with the 70x35 and plywood
  7. Cover with carpet tiles from Bunnings (Get a foam matress and it doubles up as a great bed on camping trips)
  8. You're cruising...
If you need anymore info, drop me a comment below and I'll talk you through the process.

*UPDATE* I've put my van up for sale. If you're interested, check it out on carsales here =>
